Development - Childrens Emotions at the playground.

I think that if you were to look at the emotions of a child when playing on the playground we find that there are many that a child or adult experinces when at the playground, we find that as you play you create something out of really nothing.
  • Create mermories
  • Your imagentaion runs wild
  • you feel free
  • Excitied
  • Everything is new to you and unknown
  • New
  • creativie
  • Entertaining
  • Hard
  • Challenge
  • Easy
  • smell
  • taste
  • feel
  • see
  • Grip
  • Sild
  • Hang
  • Climb
  • Swing
  • Blance
  • Control
all of theses emotions play an imporant part to how children feel when at the playground i think that it is important that we know this as for it helps us understand the connection that is created when at the playground , you may not really think of it , but you will at least experience it when at the playground, this usually generates pass memories or experiences that you have had.

Research - Playgrounds - Images

All of theses images are greta examples for me to look at as for i would like to apply these ideas in my final project by this i want to be able to really zoom up close wiht the camera in order to link back to my idea of how children see the playground, i think that it is important that i state and really connect with my idea as best as i can, i will to another shoot and compare and contrat with theses images and my first shoot.

Conclusion - Final shoot -

For  this shoot i found that i really liked my best 10 shoots as for i believe they reflect my understanding of space, and it also links back to my key ideas of what i wnated to express in all of my photos, i think that there is however room for development within some of my contact sheets i notice that i could have taken alot more images in the ware and tear as another way of express space and the emotions that are found.

As this is my first shoot, i am happy with it , and i feel that as i got through this coures i will develop more skills and learn how to express my ideas. I think that this shoot was a starting point but there is still room for improvement. I hope that my ideas are clear and make sense.

As for my panorama it wasnt a success this time around however i have shown the general idea and will fix it up as soon as i can.

I learn't alot in the first assignement which was about developing the understanding of  how important space is, i found that a playground is one example of how space can not only create memories but it can also create emotions that you are left with to think about, not just that but the feel of the space how it makes us feel, or the smell of the space, and how we as humans react to theses emotions, i found all of theses at a playground who to think that would be the case?

Assigment 1 - Space - The porposal - The playground.

DSDN – 144- Project one
Part one: Proposal
300244173
Date: 24/07/11
Stream: A
Tutor:  James
Brief one:
Find a space that you are able to take photos that relate to space, and how you could show that or capture it when taking photos think about the relationship that is created in the space and what are the sorts of feelings or memories that are found as an example.
 Idea
For this project I’ve decided that I will take photos of a play ground, my reason for this is i want to show how a child sees the play ground and what sort of emotions that can be found as an example the play ground can seem big, an adventure and it is almost like a jungle for them to explore, i also wanted to capture there interaction when on the playground, this park that I have shoot at is on the strand Wainuiomata.
I believe that we are able to find that there is a relationship between how a playground can make a child feel, i wanted to share the experiences that they have when at a park, I think that I was able to express my understanding of space through the emotions  that children get when at a park, and to show that  they are not only left with the memories, but the emotions that they feel through the experiences that they gain, as for they will go through life and have many differernt ones.
So i will do a few more shoots here but i may change and see other sites as for I think that one place only tells so much about the playground. There for i will need to explore more with this idea.

Playground - define

A Playground is a place that is designed for children so that they are able to play there.

For this brief i wanted to shoot a playground and try and feel the emotions that a child would feel when they are at a playgroud the experience that they get from play at one. I started to look at the play ground itself and the obstacles that it had, i then shift my attention to the detail on the playground.

I used close ups to help in copporate this idea, it was intersting as i was shooting in this area there were alot of emotions that i felt, i felt happy, free and excitied, when i was on the playground i really felt like i was a five year old again, it became clear to me that i had infact known how it felt to be a child going to the park, the feeling if a monkey when swings on the bars as an example or going down a slide as if you were a snake.

I notice that a park can also let you imaginenation run wild as anything is impossble well thats the feeling you get when at a park, if not well thats what i got.

Shoot one - Playground - A Childs Perception

So for my final images i choose the best 11 images from my shoot in which i felt showed the key ideas that i wanted to express which was
  1. The feel of the space .
  2.   A childs perception of the playground.
  3. The way the space creates memories.
  4. The after feelings you get when you leave this space.
all of theses ideas i used to help guide me when taking my  photos, i found that i had to physically play and act like a child in order to understand the emotions.  The feel of playing on a playgroud, and how  you are not just only left with the memories but the feel of the space.

As an example i found that when i was on the monkey bars i felt like a monkey, which a child would feel, a playground is not only a place for children to play at it is also a place where they can let loose but let there imaginations run wild as for you can do anything.

By establishing this i was able to find the relationship between how the sapce makes a child feel but in this case the playground and how a child views the space when interacting with it. i got low shots, mid shots , high angles to help incorprate this idea of a childs perception on the space itself, i hope that this is seen in my work.

Examples of panoramas

The examples above were ones that i thought i could base my panorama on as for i like the ideas that all the examples give, the examples also give you the general idea of what a panorama looks like.

DSDN 144 - Quote by Herbert Bayer

‘Photography presents above all a document. It was false to overlook the new possibilities. We must adopt it , and pull it to work , like a  pigment and bush. The control is not in the manipulation of the bush but in the  complete technical realization of what is seen’ .
