Sian Bonnell - Reserach project three

Found objects and hosuhold articales placing them out of context within the rural and costal enivironment theses inventions are then photographed as documents not just of an object but of an event.

I like this example beacause you can see how sian is very creative, and by looking at the materials there is this idea of making the object or form seem different but give or hint at the idde aof it being as an example a cup cake , the setting in the background helps communicate this idea as well.




This is another prime example of how sian makes her viewers think twice i really like this photo beacause it gives us a clear indication of how sian had showed us the objects in a sapce that loks like snow almost. I think that this idea of making the object feel compeletly diiferent from what it was ment to be, we can see the realtionship thats being created between the object and the photoghraper.

HDR IMAGE

for my HDR image i found it hard to really merge, but i think that i have achieve it well enough . and i am happy with the final result. I really like how the back layer is bigger then the front it almost mirros the front layer to reavel the back layer.

Project three_ Open light final images

for my final shoot i have slected the best images that i think work well togther. I think that theses images can capture my ideas and help portray my intnail idea. I think that fiom the stat there has been a huge improvement on my photography i have notice that my shoots all which were different needed development in certian areas, it was nice to see the transition from the objects and the space to the objects and their layers, i think that this project has given me the chance to expand my ideas and thoughts of how the relationship that objects have with light is very interesting and a new way of understanding other things outside of that. In this case this would relate to my four events that i selected death, life, memeory and faith. I wanted to try and find the relationship between the object and the ligth, In which i did in open light.

Here is my power pont i thought i would place it on my blog, my final images i feel are my best as they show my idea clearly, i think that they show how objects can link us to a certian emotion or event , my four events life, death, memory and  faith are common events that have many different meanings, i think that how ive created this is a unique way. I like how my shoot really connects with the objects that i have sleceted i tried to get away from the space and just do close up of the objects, this woould give you eg. a idea of the texture of the object. i have used contrast and levels to help bump up my photos, this has complemented my shoot well.

For my final image i have my idea for this image was faith this was the hardest object to try and capture as for i didnt really have any real idea or concept on how i could photograph this but i think that ive still manage to get some good shoots.

Here is a final image of memory theses images i feel work really well togther because they all give a sense of belonging, calm and when you get theses emotions its almost like your at a rvier, they are seen as objects rather the background being shown to the viewer.

This image helps us understand how a teddy bear is shown and you wouldnt think of this if you looked at the object you could have this idea that it could be a cushion, i really like these images because i feel they communicate my ideas clearly this image shows new life.

For this image this was death as one of my ideas all three images help communicate this dea of the object being something eles. This is so that when you look at the object you would get this idea of sandy ybeach or the idea of hay thats being stripped away and you wouldnt think that this is a scraf. All of theses images are my best ones that i took for shoot three.

For my thrid shoot i found that my idea is starting to come togther, i think that i am now looking more at the object and not just the space, i started to explore on how the light would hit the objects, and what parts i wanted to try and capture, it was clear thou that i had ot play alot when doind this shoot as for my idea was simple. I like that in this shoot the images are very clear, sharp. I think that theses images in this shoot are alot better , maybe one more shoot could help me to refine certian areas in my photography.

Idea one

For this assignment I have decided to show light as a symbolic objects or signs that we can relate to I have selected four events that will occur at least once in our life.i would like to use candles and have them repersent the symbols that i think relate to the four events that i selected with this i have placed a picture or something that will help support this idea futher more. I wanted to try and create something differernt becuase i wanted to show how light can have many meanings and its how we periceve it that counts. I think that my idea is somwthing that i could make look really nice.

I have now changed my idea to instead of the objects themselfve i will take close up photos, eg, teddy bear that will have a close up of the fur , this way i would like tp communicate my ideas to my viewers about how light can reveal many things to us.

For this idea i would like to graffiti light photography, there for i will need to make forms out of L.E.D lights , i will have to use a shutter speed of 30 seconds at least.

I will look at what sort of forms i couild make , i may relate them back to the emotions we have when we are

Silly

this idea will be that light can help communicate the idea of emtions, with this we can then look atv the forms that have been created

Conclusion

For my final hand in i would like to create a sucessful project, i woud like my ideas to also be clear. I want my viewers to be able to look at my finail work and see my verison, i have found that from my last few assignemnts i need to provided my tutor with more development and i will need make sure that i have more research, also more perccedants with explanation.

Faith is another idea that i have for this project as we all have a faith or something that we believe in it is only really a question of how we interpurt it.i still have found this hard to try aand capture the object so hopefull ill get some feedback.

Memory is one that i found easy to pick my favourite place to go during the summer would have to be the beach i love getting out in the sun and picking up a rock a throwing across the water , watching the reaction. This then lead me to the idea of using rocks as one of my conecpts, i think this idea could possible work, but there is still more i could do.

Here is an example of new life, this is my little sisters teddy bear that she got given to her the day she was born, i tried to capture the texture, of the fur to give the viewer this view of what reminds me of that period of time so i think that this dose link back to my main ideas form the start which was to try and create a image that is captured in ligth with the object , but to try and have close ups of the obeject and not just the object on its own.

Here are my three best images from shoot two, i feel that all of them communicate my idea across clearly, i really like how most of them have a close up view , the way the light hits the object works really well also i like how the yellow contrasts really nice with the black, i think that these images are still able to be develop further, i just need to find out how .

Here are all of my contact sheets for this shoot, i found that with this shoot in had to really think about the compostiton of the objects as i had changed my idea in to objects , the objects still have some relavances to my idea , death, faith, new life  and memory, all of images for this shoot i was happy with however i still need to develop them a little bit more .

For this assignment i have choosen to select these images beacuse they have some relation to my assignment as i will use theses symblos and create something smiliar to them with the candles , i want to do this to support my idea . Which is to show light , and how it can triger certian events that occure in our life , a new life, death. faith, memeorie, all in which we find some connection to. All of  theses will occure at least oncen in your life. 

weekly assignment - PROJECT THREE - Light drawing -

Both of the images show different objects that i wanted to create for the first one i wanted to create a line that went form point and to be going down, for the second one i wanted to draw the letter e with a long tail, i am happy with both of these images and i feel that they both communicate the idea of light drawing.

Research -Josef Sudek

This image shows a prime example of how Josef Sudek, captured light , i like this idea of black and white i might try it as an example .

Josef Sudek ,was a Czech photographer, best known for his haunting night-scapes of Prague. he was known to always push the boundaries, the photographer was had lost his arm during the hungrain  itialn  front world war 1 1916. but this did not stop him form taking great images the photograpger had many helpers.
Antoher great example that shows the object close up but you are able to see the textures as well.


This example is clearly demonstrating how josef captures light but he also captuires the space that the object is in which i like alot.

Here is my trial of black and white, i tried to do the same as josef, and i think that the image looks ok but is it enough for my viewer?

Fourth image - project Three- Light - Death

For my fouth image i used a pamplet from my grandmother furneal, as a sign of death, candles are used alot and death is agin were we see them used, to state that we need to say good bye, in tbhis case it was for me a sign of being close to my grandmother when the candle is not burning its a sign that she is gone . i have also used the candles in a form of a x to help support the idea of death.

For my third image A memorie, this is a photo of my fiith birthday , again candles being lit at a birthday party that i had, the 5 signifies the number i was turning .

Second image - Project Three - Light - New Life

 

For my second image New life. I wanted to show how when  we have a new born, life we can relate to light as a way to show a new start, like when you lit a candle it could symbloies the start of something new, like when you first lite a candle its the wick that gets lit which start the flame this then leads to a new candle burimg , just as a new life would start, the photo is a pitcure of my little sister she was the lates adition to my family and i wanted to use this as an example as we lit a candle when she was born to state that a new life has arised. i have placed the candles in a circle because this is to give the viewer the sign of a brand new start.

My first image was faith. i have used the candles by arranging them in a shape of a cross to help support the idea of faith.

I wanted to try and show that most of us have a faith that we all have feel when a candle is lit its a sign that we are closer to god, not only this but it keeps us at peace, and brings us a sign that when the candle is lit we are left with the candle buring slowly again this gives us a clear indication of the light being a symbol of life.
